Summer Snapshot Review “Captain America: Civil War”
First, the Recap:
Reeling from the events of “Avengers: Age Of Ultron”, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) aka: Captain America, finds himself at odds with one of his most trusted allies and friends, Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) aka: Iron Man, over a politically-charged mandate that strives to allow government oversight on superheroes and their tactics/actions. With Steve against it and Tony for it, the circumstances find friends becoming enemies and other heroes new and old choosing sides. As the infighting begins to mount and a conflict between the two factions becomes more and more inevitable, a new villain takes advantage of the unrest to spark a plan to upend the Avengers even more, all while ensuring fresh chaos is unleashed on a divided world.
Worth Watching: YES
Next, my Mind:
Marvel Studios once again illustrates why they are the ultimate kings of the comic book-based film, as along with co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo, they deliver another home run with this effort, providing plenty of action while not sacrificing plot and character development. The excellent cinematography follows the events with precision and flow, while the superb writing allow for viewers to actually feel totally connected to the events and not mere observers. Evans and Downey, Jr. reprise their respective roles yet again, and do so with passion, flare, bravado, and gravitas as they now find their characters at severe odds. The current Avengers, plus some wonderful new additions like Tom Holland’s spot-on Spider-Man and others, make this the ensemble adventure to watch this Summer.
As always, this is all for your consideration and comment. Until next time, thank you for reading!
