Summer Snapshot Review “Finding Dory”
First, the Recap:
“Just keep swimming, just keep swimming”. This is the mantra of a certain blue and yellow tang named Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres), whose penchant for forgetfulness in the short term is only matched by her fond, friendly heart and loyalty towards friends in the long term. After assisting clownfish Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks) locate his lost son Nemo (voiced by Hayden Rolence) previously, the tables turn when an unexpected revelation about Dory’s past involving her parents sends her swimming off haphazardly in search of them. Knowing her tendencies to forget things might get her into trouble, Marlin and Nemo set out to help her, even as Dory finds new friends along the way to assist that each take her one step closer to a longed-for reunion.
Worth Seeing: YES
Next, my Mind:
Writer/co-director Andrew Stanton and co-director Angus MacLane have the awesome honor of presenting yet another champion effort to the already loaded Pixar Animation Studios library, as it was also a welcome return to form after the somewhat lackluster “The Good Dinosaur”. Epic visual presentation is matched with trademark, smartly-written dialogue and plot to deliver everything a fan of Pixar’s material would want, while also proving these guys know how to bring it for a sequel 13 years removed from the original and keep us enraptured. Humor, pathos, and wonderful new characters voiced by Idris Elba, Kaitlin Olson, Ed O’Neill, and Ty Burrell among others simply win you over and prove why Pixar still rules the animation roost. Of course, don’t forget the short film prior to the film’s start that will melt your heart.
As always, this is all for your consideration and comment. Until next time, thank you for reading!
