Summer Snapshot Review “Now You See Me 2”

Now You See Me 2-3 Now You See Me 2-1 Now You See Me 2-2

First, the Recap:

Why is it that when you think you’ve gotten away with something and put away the bad guys that all will be well, much less remain so? For the Four Horsemen–J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson), Jack Wilder (Dave Franco), and new member Lula (Lizzy Caplan)–it just ain’t gonna happen! Living apart and under the radar thanks to their previously discovered friend and fellow magician Dylan (Mark Ruffalo), the group find themselves and their skillset called upon to undermine a tech giant. However, old adversary Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman) has other plans along with a new player in the game, Walter Mabry (Daniel Radcliffe), a tech genius himself who draws them into their biggest heist yet. But, as always, there’s more happening than meets the eye.

Worth Seeing: YES

A huge “Thank you!!” must be given to director Jon M. Chu plus writers Ed Solomon and Peter Chiarelli for giving us an prime example of how a sequel should be executed and executed superbly. Fast-paced, action-filled, visually fun, sophisticatedly witty, and just downright entertaining, this character-based adventure follow-up to the 2013 sleeper hit actually trumps its predecessor in many respects. All the returning cast is wonderful, and newcomers Caplan and Radcliffe add some exceptional new blood to the mix.  Containing all the magical special effects sequences and keeps-you-guessing plot twists a viewer could desire, the film still has that grounded, indie film atmosphere, which in itself benefits the effort to no end. Well, well, worthy to catch!

As always, this is all for your consideration and comment.  Until next time, thank you for reading!
