Summer Snapshot Review “The Angry Birds Movie”

Angry Birds3 Angry Birds1 Angry Birds2

First, the Recap:

On a remote island in the middle of somewhere, there lives a colony of flightless birds.  Among them we find Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis), a very red-colored fellow who has a bit of an anger issue. While others around him find happiness and fulfillment, these experiences elude Red. Trying to find answers and be a better bird, the island’s peace in interrupted by the arrival of unexpected guests–the enigmatic green piggies. Seeming to come with well-wishes and good intent, events soon turn for the worst when this is more than adequately disproven. Having a chance to step up, Red and two other misfits, Chuck (voiced by Josh Gad) and Bomb (voiced by Danny McBride), endeavor to save the day.

Worth Seeing: Yes

Next, my Mind:

Whether you’ve played the games every day religiously for years, heard about the games religiously for years, or even have a mild familiarity about the games, co-directors Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly take full advantage of the sheer silliness of them and provide a fun, laugh-inducing bit of animated tomfoolery that most certainly benefits from a stellar voice cast bringing all our favorite birds (ok, AND piggies) to life. Slapstick, puns, physical humor and straight-forward elements from the gameplay itself abound throughout, and affairs move along quickly via some fantastic animated imagery. It’s Summer, it’s time to sit back and just guffaw for a spell, and Rovio Entertainment and Columbia Pictures’ effort brings viewers that chance to the screen.

As always, this is all for your consideration and comment.  Until next time, thank you for reading!
