First, the Recap:

Surviving in a highly chaotic world.  Not so easy when you’re a hyper intelligent but purposely reclusive math savant who runs a small CPA office in Illinois. Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck), since childhood, has always found himself better at crunching numbers than relating to people. Yet, he’s become the accountant for some of the world’s most diabolical criminal organizations.

However, when circumstances cause him to take on a totally legit client–a robotics company whose in-house accounting clerk, Dana Cummings (Anna Kendrick), has uncovered missing millions–it’s up to Christian to locate where the funds have disappeared to. Now, with FinCEN head Ray King (J.K. Simmons) and a rising agent Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) closing in on him, the shocking truths revealed become a danger to them all.

Now on the run with Dana in tow, it’s up to Christian’s uncanny abilities to get them free of those seeking to keep the revelations secret.

Worth Seeing: YES

Director Gavin O’Connor (“Miracle”, “Warrior”) delivers a surprisingly high-octane dramatic thriller with plenty of equally high intensity action thrown in, making this quite the must-see effort.  Affleck is superb as Wolff, a man who’s certainly more than meets the eye, despite a troubled childhood. Kendrick plays Cummings as the out-of-her-depth character she’s intended to be, and does so with entertaining bravado and execution. Fantastic supporting turns abound here from Simmons, Addai-Robinson, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey Tambor, John Lithgow, and Jean Smart. So, get to the theater and buckle up, because “The Accountant” is one wild, crazy ride worth investing the time to view.

As always, this is all for your consideration and comment.  Until next time, thank you for reading!
